
Stop Letting Ozone Mess Up Your Smart Fab
When you’re putting together a modern, digitized Fab, most people obsess over the temperature. But here’s the thing: it’s not just about the heat. It’s about the air you’re breathing and the health of your gear. Standard short-wave IR lamps have a nasty habit of pumping out ozone (O3) because of the UV they emit. In a closed-loop production line, that ozone doesn’t just vanish. It builds up. Then your sensors start screaming, and your expensive electronics start to corrode. Not a great look. The fix is simple: ozone-free IR lamps. We use specialized quartz shielding or filtered filaments to block those UV wavelengths. No UV, no ozone. Your air stays clean, and your electronics actually last. Heat that actually listens to your data We want these systems to be fast. Really fast. That’s why we design them to talk directly to your PLC controllers. By using SCRs to modulate the power, you can actually map out the thermal footprint of your process while it’s happening. Instead of just setting a timer and hoping for the best, your Fab adjusts the heat based on how fast the line is actually moving. It’s way more intuitive. The trade-off (because there’s always one) Now, look, nothing is perfect. Those coatings that keep the air clean can shift the emission peak. You might notice the heat doesn’t penetrate quite as deep as it does with an unfiltered tube. To make up for that, we usually just bump up the wattage density. But a word of caution: if you cram a 2kW lamp into a tiny space, you’ve got to get your cooling right. If the chassis can’t handle the reflected heat, you’re going to fry your wiring. And nobody wants to deal with that on a Tuesday afternoon. Getting it running We use standard connectors, so these are basically drop-in replacements. Whether you’re building a brand-new curing station or just trying to fix an old legacy line, we want you back up and running as fast as possible. Plus, since everything is digital, you can keep an eye on the current draw to see when a lamp is starting to fade.
