If you’re putting infrared heaters in a bathroom or anywhere with a lot of steam, water is your biggest headache. It’s simple: moisture hits the electrical terminals, and the whole thing dies. That’s why we stick to an IP44 rating. In plain English? It means the housing is tight enough to keep out small bits of debris and, more importantly, it handles splashes from any angle without letting water leak inside.
Why we use explosion-proof quartz glass
Think about what happens when a cold drop of water hits a glowing red lamp. It’s a massive temperature shock. Regular glass just can’t take that—it shatters. We use quartz tubes because they’re built for those wild temperature swings. They don’t crack when things get chaotic. And here’s the real peace of mind: these tubes have an explosion-proof coating. If one actually does break, the shards stay contained. No glass spraying across the shower floor.
Heat and Power
These systems use shortwave infrared, so the heat is almost instant. You walk in, flip a switch, and you’re warm in seconds. It feels great. But there’s a catch. Putting high wattage into a small, sealed IP44 box creates a lot of internal heat. You’ve got to make sure whatever you’re mounting the heater to can handle that warmth. If not, you’ll see the housing start to warp over time.
Getting it installed (and keeping it running)
We’ve made these as “drop-in” replacements to save you the hassle of messy wiring. Most of them use standard connectors, so you aren’t stuck soldering wires in a damp room. One big tip:double-check your seals. A loose gasket basically kills your IP44 protection. If water leaks in, the circuitry corrodes and your lamp will burn out way sooner than it should. Just keep the wiring tight and those gaskets pressed firm. Your heater will last a lot longer.
